Formerly a working sugar plantation, the property has a long history of owners including Lord Glenconner, famously known for his friendship with Princess Margaret, and the once famous proprietor of the Bang Restaurant. The resort is currently owned by Roger Myers and is coming to the end of a multimillion dollar transition that saw the property re-branded and re-launched as Sugar Beach, under the continued management of the Viceroy Hotel Group. Viceroy has managed the property since 2008.
